The Norton Center For The Arts pursues personal engagements with its constituents and presents artists that surpass typical expectations in an effort to form a long-term trust among the institution, the College and its patrons.

The Center’s reach extends far beyond the campus and Danville, as each year more than 5,000 elementary, middle, and high school students enjoy matinees of main stage performances at discounted rates. Centre College students and residents of the surrounding area also benefit from Norton Center activities by participating in lectures, seminars, master classes, and symposia surrounding various programs.

STUDENT MATINEES

Live performing arts offer new perspectives and bring curricula to life in powerful and memorable ways. We can’t wait to welcome student groups back to the Norton Center for the 2021/2022 Student Matinee Series of professional performing arts experiences. Until then, we have developed an exciting lineup of on-demand K-12 virtual programs in collaboration with area educators and arts partners. These virtual programs have been made available for FREE to student groups by the Norton Center’s Arts for the Classroom Ticket Subsidy (ACTS) program.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT & EDUCATION

Great performances are often just the beginning of a lifelong connection to the creativity that crosses our stages each season.  At the Norton Center, we provide opportunities for our audience to deepen its connection to the arts in many ways.  In addition to Creative Conversations and Gatherings, the Norton Center offers Panel Discussions, a yearly Notes from the Faculty Series, and numerous workshops and masterclasses.  Look for these opportunities and more on individual performance pages each season.
